Dental Implants in Fayetteville, NC

If you are missing one or more teeth, you are not alone. The majority of adults have lost one or more permanent teeth. Unfortunately, this fact doesn't make it any easier to live with an incomplete smile. Thankfully, modern dentistry offers many solutions to replacing missing teeth, restoring your smile, and getting back your quality of life. By far, the most popular tooth-replacement treatment option is dental implants.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a type of restorative dental treatment designed to mimic natural teeth by anchoring dental restorations directly in the jawbone. A dental implant consists of three basic components:

  • Implant Anchor - The dental implant anchor is a screw-shaped dental prosthetic made of biocompatible metal. Designed to mimic the function of a natural tooth's root system, the implant anchor is placed directly in the jawbone. During the healing process, the anchor becomes osseointegrated with the jawbone, creating a strong and secure support system.
  • Implant Abutment - Also made of biocompatible metal, the implant abutment is designed to connect to the implant anchor and the dental restoration, creating a secure attachment.
  • Dental Restoration - The dental restoration is usually made of luminous, tooth-colored porcelain. It is only the visible portion of a dental implant and is designed to resemble a natural tooth or multiple natural teeth.

Treatment Options with Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a wide array of treatment options that can address smile restoration needs whether a patient is missing one, multiple, or all of their teeth.

Implant-Supported Dental Crown

An implant-supported dental crown can be used to replace teeth on an individual basis with a one-for-one tooth replacement strategy.

Implant-Supported Dental Bridge

An implant-supported dental bridge is designed to replace multiple teeth that are missing in a row.

Implant-Supported Dentures

When patients are missing all or most of their teeth, we typically do not recommend full mouth implants. In these cases, the more affordable, simple, and effective treatment option is implant-supported dentures.

Rather than replacing a large number of individual teeth with a large number of individually placed dental implants and dental crowns, we can use an implant-supported denture. A number of strategically placed dental implants can support either a full or partial denture to replace all or most of a patient's teeth.

There are two basic styles of implant-supported dentures:

  • All-on-4 - This type of implant-supported denture is designed to be permanently fixed to the dental implants.
  • Snap-On - Also called overdentures, snap-on dentures can be more easily removed from dental implants for maintenance.

The Advantages of Smile Restoration with Dental Implants

Smile restoration with dental implants offers many benefits and advantages to patients, such as:

  • Natural Look, Feel, and Fit - Custom-designed to each patient's specifications, dental implants are by far the most natural-looking and feeling smile restoration option. Patients don't notice they have artificial teeth.
  • Jawbone and Oral Health - Dental implants support the ongoing health and strength of the jawbone by maintaining its natural structure. The prevention of jawbone degeneration also supports the ongoing health of remaining natural teeth.
  • No Discomfort or Sores - Implant-supported dental restorations never slip or move around in the mouth. As a result, they are completely comfortable.
  • No Adhesives - Dental implants don't require the use of sticky dental adhesives.
  • Easy Care - They can be cared for just like natural teeth.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

The cost of smile restoration with dental implants can vary significantly, depending on the individual case, the number of implants, the type of dental restoration, the type of preparatory work that is required, and the patient's dental insurance. Once we have provided you with a personalized treatment plan, our office team can help you determine a more accurate estimate of the total cost of treatment in addition to what kind of coverage you can expect from your insurance policy.
